At the beginning of the film Daniel first starts to paint a picture of Sheila. At first he treats her as little more than an object to paint. But gradually he realises he has strong feelings for her, and resolutley decides never to sell the painting of her realising it is the best thing he has ever done. However for reasons in the story he does sell the picture and soon regrets this. He tries pleading, but the art dealer won't sell it back in what he sees as a simple business transaction...
